BinJamin Enclosure Banner Concept

BINJAMIN: From Concept to Company

My Entrepreneurial Journey

I've always been fascinated by entrepreneurship. Growing up around my dad's business, Bearicuda, and working there since I was 12 years old, I've had the opportunity to see firsthand what it takes to build and operate a successful company. But this past summer, I was given a challenge that took my interest in business to a whole new level.

My dad challenged me to come up with an entirely new product idea, something his company wasn't already selling, and figure out how to turn that idea into a business of my own. He would be there to mentor me and answer questions, but the creativity, research, planning, and decisions would be my responsibility.

That's how BINJAMIN was born.

What started as an idea for a premium outdoor trash can enclosure quickly became much more than designing a product. I had to research competitors, understand barriers to entry, evaluate manufacturing options, analyze production and distribution costs, and develop relationships with key industry partners. I also had to think about branding, marketing, pricing, profit margins, and how to build a distribution network.

I created the BINJAMIN name, developed its character and branding concept, and began building a business model with Bearicuda as my first planned wholesale distributor. I also purchased two domain names for my future website and invested money I'd earned working at a golf course to file my own trademark application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

On October 31, 2026, my BINJAMIN trademark application was officially submitted under my name and is now pending review.

The biggest lesson I've learned is that entrepreneurship isn't just about having a great idea. It's about doing the research, solving problems, making difficult decisions, taking financial risks, and having the determination to turn an idea into something real.

BINJAMIN is still in its early stages, and I know I have a lot more to learn. But creating this business has been one of the most exciting and rewarding experiences I've had, and it has made me even more certain that entrepreneurship is what I want to pursue in college and beyond.

Below, I'd like to share how I took BINJAMIN from an initial concept toward building a business of my own.
